In January 2022, I took my first solo roadtrip from Saratoga, CA to Seattle, WA. The 21-hour drive was simultaneously terrifying and exhilarating, a product of poor planning and spontaneity. I ended up seeing the entire Oregon coast, finding a glass float made by local artists Alejandro Hernandez and Ciara Cuddihy-Hernandez, spending a night in a Walmart parking lot, and talking to myself and my car (Yoda the Toyota) way too much. But more importantly, I realized how much I missed having a self-assigned goal. The hectic four years of college left me little room to explore pursuits as my own instructor. 

 

The roadtrip wasn’t a creative medium so much as a resolve to try something new each month. Thus began Project RunAway, a slightly belated New Year’s resolution to realize 12 projects/goals in 2022 that pushed the boundaries of my creativity and comfort zone. As the months slipped by, I noticed that many projects centered around the arts. I created this website as a means of documenting Project RunAway and any subsequent art forms I’d like to share with the curious Internet passerby. So welcome!
